Approximately 70% of the new believers had been animists, and 10% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Dinka language to mainly the Dinka tribe. Two new churches were planted with one new church in Turali and one new church in Akoc. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Sudan Pentecostal Church, and the Episcopal Church of Sudan. A total of 400 bibles were distributed in the Dinka language. The team helped reconcile two groups that had been fighting. The two groups were reconciled the following morning after the film show in Akoc. The team also prayed for many people who were then healed.

Discipleship training was conducted on The Kingdom of God is Worth it (Matthew 13:45-46).

Introduction

Jesus wrapped some of his most significant teachings about the kingdom in parable form. There are eight parables in Matthew 13. In these parables Jesus invites us to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. Jesus describes the kingdom in terms of its results (sower and soils), in terms of its reality (mustard seeds and leaven), in terms of revelation (weeds and wheat), and in terms of relevance (hidden treasure and pearl merchant).

  1. The Merchant Looked for the Pearl (The Kingdom of Heaven is Worth Searching for).
    1. People may have to search to find the kingdom. This is not true for everyone. Some find the kingdom in other ways. But some find the kingdom after an intense search.
    2. The good news is that the kingdom can be found once the Holy Spirit draws us into the search (Acts 17:27). Jesus gave congratulations to those who hungered for the kingdom (Matthew 5:6) and to those who looked for the kingdom (Matthew 6:33).
  2. The Merchant Sacrificed for the Pearl (The Kingdom is Worth Sacrificing for).
    1. There are many worthy things to sacrifice for.
    2. But there is nothing more important than sacrificing for the Lord and His kingdom.
  3. The Merchant Secured the Pearl (The Kingdom is Worth Securing).
    1. People sometimes try to enjoy the reign of God in a lukewarm manner. They may search and make some sacrifices. But they need to throw away all that keeps them from the kingdom and then secure the kingdom.
    2. The merchant knew he had made a great deal. Like the merchant we have made a great deal in following Christ and securing the kingdom.
