Evangelism & Discipleship Training Trip – Keriwa North, Keriwa South, and Bamure, Sudan

In June, 2006 Rev. Atansi Biaja and his 9 person evangelism team traveled southeast to Keriwa North, Keriwa South, and Bamure, Sudan. The team left Yei, Sudan on June 27 and returned on August 13.

Keriwa and Bamure contain five internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. There are two camps in Keriwa and three camps in Bamure. During this evangelism trip, there were 11,000 indicated decisions for Christ in these five camps.

Approximately 65% of the new believers had been animists and 5% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Dinka language to primarily the Dinka and some native Kuku tribesmen. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the Sudan Pentecostal Church. A total of 350 bibles were distributed with 300 bibles in Dinka and 50 bibles in Bari (for native Kuku tribe).

People in all of our areas have hard lives. They don’t see any change in their lives, so they sometimes question the worth of their faith. Because of this, our team taught primarily on “How to Find Contentment in Christ” during this trip. The teachings were primarily from Matthew 6:31-34; Hebrews 13:5-6; Isaiah 36:3-4, 54:10,13,17; Philippians 3:9, 4:6,7,11-13; Romans 8:1-2,5-6,28; Psalms 91:1-2, 121:1-3,5,8; 1 Corinthians 3:5, 9:27; Genesis 18:25.
