Evangelism & Discipleship Training Trip – Faradje, Aba, Imma, Dramba, and Ataki, DRC

In June, 2006 Pastor Nelson Monday and his 11 person evangelism team traveled southwest to Faradje, Aba, Imma, Dramba, and Ataki, DRC. The team left Yei, Sudan on June 25 and returned on August 12.

The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:

Village Indicated Decisions For Christ
Faradje town 2,000
Faradje rural (4 villages) 3,400
Aba 1,400
Imma 1,800
Dramba 2,800
Ataki one 700
Ataki two 1,600
Total 13,700

Approximately 55% of the new believers had been animists, and 2% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Lingala language to the Kakwa, Logo, Mundu, and Avokaya tribes. One new church was planted in Imma. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Pentecostal Church, and the Community Evangelical Church of the Congo (CECA). A total of 200 bibles were distributed in the Lingala language.

The people begged our team to come more often as they need more discipleship training and 2,000 more bibles. Unfortunately, we only have three teams to cover our vast area, and the LRA has been active in this area, so our return visits are limited.

Our discipleship training concentrated on the theme “How to Handle Suffering in Christ”. The team used the following scriptures in training: 1 Peter 4:1-2,12-17,19; Psalm 34:17-19; Hebrews 2:9-10, 5:8-9, 12:6-8, 11-13; 1 Corinthians 4:8-10,17-18; 1 Peter 2:20-21, 5:10-11; Romans 8:17-18; 1 Timothy 2:3; James 1:12; Philippians 4:12-13.
