Evangelism Trip – Paliau, Jonglei, Kongor, Panyagor, Werkok, Jonglei Post, Dhiam Dhiam, Baidit, Sudan

In August, 2004 Evangelist Andrew Kuol and his 9 person evangelism team traveled north to Paliau, Jonglei, Kongor, Panyagor, Werkok, Jonglei Post, Dhiam Dhiam, and Baidit, Sudan. The team left Yei, Sudan on August 9 and returned on October 13. The evangelism team was driven by truck for 1 1/2 days to the western bank of the Nile and dropped off. The team crossed the Nile and proceeded to walk to all of the villages. Our truck returned to bring them more supplies during the trip. The town of Bor is held by Government of Sudan soldiers, so our teams were not able to enter the town of Bor.

The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:

Town Indicated Decisions for Christ
Paliau 6,100
Jonglei 5,700
Kongor 4,000
Panyagor 3,600
Werkok 2,900
Jonglei Post 2,400
Dhiam Dhiam 1,900
Baidit 850
Total 27,450

Approximately 40% of the new believers had been animists, and 10% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Dinka language to the Dinka tribe. One new church was started in a place called Maar in Panyagor. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Episcopal Church of Sudan, and the Sudan Pentecostal Church. A total of 500 bibles were distributed in the Dinka language.

Since the team spent two months in this area and had to walk from place to place, a lot of discipleship training was done. Most of our training was on topics like faith in Matt 21:2-22, Gal 3:2,6-14, and mercy in Matt 20:30-34. A lot of teaching was also on what it means to be born again and to be a good follower of Christ.
