Evangelism Trip – Arivu, Bondo, Madi Okolo, Nebbi, Pakwach, Nebbi District, Uganda

In April, 2004 Pastor Samule Amule and his 11 person evangelism team traveled 1 1/2 days south to Nebbi District, Uganda. The team left Yei, Sudan on April 22 and returned on May 24. Some of this trip consisted of follow-up to our June, 2003 evangelism trip to Nebbi district. The team showed the JESUS Film in Arivu, Bondo, Madi Okolo, Nebbi town, two villages around Nebbi town, and Pakwach. During this evangelism trip a total of 9,000 people indicated decisions for Christ. The JESUS Film was shown in the Madi, Alur, and Acholi languages. Approximately 30% of the new believers had been animists, and 5% had been Muslims. The Acholi, Alur, Madi, and Lugbara tribes were reached.

The Church of Uganda, Full Gospel Church of Uganda, and the Free Methodist Church will handle all follow-up. The evangelism team distributed 200 bibles. Fifty bibles were distributed in the Acholi, Alur, Lugbara, and Madi languages, respectively.

This area of Uganda has been full of fear from a belief in an evil magical practice. In this practice the people believe a demon causes someone to die. The person’s soul is then made to perform labor for the person who has the magic. The soul has to dig in the magician’s fields. The soul is kept in a big house in a hole underground. After the film shows many people confessed their fear of this magic. After these people accepted Christ, they were delivered from those fears and those demons.

The Muslims who were saved confessed that they had never heard the gospel of love and sacrifice lived by Jesus and shown by the JESUS Film. They had thought Christianity was the religion of the white man. Also the love shown to them by our JESUS Film team members greatly impressed them.
