Evangelism Trip Maridi and Surrounding Villages, Sudan
In February, 2004 Pastor Steven Dada Matthew and his 9 person evangelism team traveled to Maridi, Sudan. The team left Yei, Sudan on February 16 and returned on March 6. The JESUS Film was shown during this trip in the Lingala language. A total of 9,050 people indicated decisions for Christ.
The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:
| Locations | Decisions |
| Maridi | 1,500 |
| Near Maridi on Mundri Road | 950 |
| Locations 5 and 10 miles from Maridi on Yei Road | 2,000 |
| Locations 4, 9 and 13 miles from Maridi on Yambio Road | 4,600 |
| TOTAL | 9,050 |
Approximately 60% of the new believers had been animists and 5% had been Muslims. The Baka, Avokaya, and Mundu tribes were reached during this trip. The Maridi people are feared in southwestern Sudan because of their witchcraft practices. People from all over southwestern Sudan come to Maridi to have magic spells cast on their enemies. It was gratifying to our team to see so many come to Christ in such a demonic stronghold.
One new Presbyterian church was started in the location 5 miles from Maridi on the Yei road. Churches involved in followup of the new believers will be the new Presbyterian church, the ECS, and the SPC. The evangelism team distributed 400 Bibles in the Lingala language.
The breakdown of expenditures for this evangelism trip is as follows:
| First Aid | $10 |
| Fuel for the Truck | $200 |
| Pay for Truck Driver | $45 |
| Pay for the Evangelists (10 x $30) | $300 |
| Food and accommodations for Evangelists | $1,000 |
| 400 Lingala language Bibles | $2,000 |
| TOTAL | $3,555 |
