In July, 2003 Evangelist Charles Hakim and his 11 person evangelism team traveled southeast to Kaya, Sudan. The team then crossed the border into Uganda and went to Keri, Koboko, Maracha, Nyadri and Arua, Uganda. The team left Yei, Sudan on July 14 and returned on July 27. The Jesus Film was shown from Kaya to Koboko in the Kakwa language. The rest of the trip the JESUS Film was shown in the Aringa language. During this evangelism trip a total of 7,100 people were born again as new believers in Jesus. Approximately 30% of the new believers had been animists, and 15% had been Muslims. Regarding follow-up, some of the new believers were handed over to the National Pentecostal Church of Uganda. Also, a new Presbyterian church was planted in Kaya that will handle follow-up of the new believers there. The evangelism team distributed 150 Bibles in the Kakwa language and 150 Bibles in the Lugbara language (which is used by the Aringa as well) to born again believers who could read.
